Hey, I'm meckimeck, a top EU competitive player and one of the best on Kingpin.
I main this Hunter since the moment Project Loki was called SUPERVIVE (July 2024) and basically haven't played anything else.

This is a build that should feel closest to the old Hybrid preset. A good mix of damage and tankiness.
Because the numbers of KP have been tuned, he in general has less damage than before and is a bit chunkier in mid - late game.
That's the reason you don't need to lean full tank, except if you want to run around as a 5.5k HP behemoth.

Grips: there is a lot of possible options, but this is the combo I feel the best about right now.

1. Grip: In my opinion, @Power Gauntlet is a must because most of your damage comes from your LMB.

For your 2. Grip you have more options:
@Greenwood Grasp: If you have problems with mana right now, this is your item. not sacrificing a lot of HP with that.
@Burning Palm: A bit more burning max hp damage if you feel like you need it.
@Chrono Gauge: This can make sense if you get it to level 3, where you'll have 1.3 seconds less cooldown on %Abyssal Grasp if you do your combo (%Abyssal Grasp -> %Primal Slam) and .65 seconds off your %Primal Slam.

Kicks: @Feystriders seem the best on paper and play very well, but...

@Rocket High-Tops feel very good as well, as they give bigger speed on your dashes, by which they will launch you further.

So the choice of Kicks is pure preference.

Relics: There's also some possibility and build variety in terms of Relics.

As your first Relic, @Grabby the Squid is uncontested. It's the most broken and unfair item on Kingpin; just abuse it. It'll give you many easy engages and %Primal Slam possibilities. Either on an island or in the abyss. It also is a good tool to get away from someone or traverse in general.
You can get other Relics here, but you really shouldn't with this build.

As your secondary, you again have some options:
@Sunweaver: With this build and ability setup, you really want to play around your slam into autoattack resets on your shift. Each time you dash or use another ability, Sunweaver will weave in more damage.
@Black Rose: If you want to lean even further into LMB damage, you can try Black Rose. It'll cut some attack range for more LMB damage. I'll suggest you building @Longclaw Optics as your second Grip, so the attack range is around the normal distance again.
@Essence Reaper: This option provides an even tankier variant with increased HP and sustain. It's recommended to build very early on, so you can start stacking as soon as possible.
@Vive Infusor: This item is especially good on KP with Dash Max, as you can dash around a lot and heal whilst doing so. This item gets a huge boost in strength from star level 2 onwards, so you should be looking out for that.
@Battlegum: For more CC and general control of your enemies. Can be used to get easy engages or dunks over the abyss.
@Thunderbolt: For the highest burst damage while just doing your combo: %Abyssal Grasp, %Scattergun, %Primal Slam.

As you can see, there are a lot of options for Relics, and there are even more you can try by yourself: @Isochron's Timestaff, @Harmonic Edge, @Resonating Idol, ...

Last but not least, Exotics:

@Blinkstone is the most OP item on Kingpin; try to always get it on your team, except if you have, for example, Beebo, who can also abuse it fairly hard.
@Be Kind, Rewind can be used to get out of a fight quickly or hook enemies across the map by hooking and rewinding instantly after.
@Mecha Boosters to get in quickly and get a slam for your team without using any other resource.

Every exotic perk is nice to have, but the ones listed are probably the ones that play around Kingpins kit the most. Just get any exotic perk you can find!!
